Instructors

Julie Matz

Julie Matz is a classically trained Pilates Instructor and has been practicing and benefiting from Pilates since 2001. Julie has been a Certified Pilates Mat Instructor with over 140 hours since 2006, and she then went on to complete over 700 hours through the Comprehensive Pilates Teacher Training Program in 2009. Julie received both of her Certifications through Body Precision Pilates Studio in Rosemont, PA, an Educational Organization with the Pilates Method Alliance (PMA). Julie also trained and studied under the tutorial of Master Teachers at Inside Out Body Therapies in Durham, NC, The Pilates Center of Boulder in Boulder, Colorado, and Main Line Pilates in Paoli, PA. Julie continues her study and training in Pilates by attending various workshops, completing on-line educational programs, and reading whatever she can get her hands on.

Diane Cowan

Diane went to Northern Virginia Community College, earning an Associate Degree in Applied Science in the Physical Therapy Program. She worked for 30 years as a Physical Therapy Assistant in Northern Virginia. It was while she was practicing in an out-patient Orthopedic Clinic that she discovered Pilates. In May 2003, Diane completed the 250-hour Comprehensive Pilates Mat Certification through the Professional Health and Fitness Institute. She immediately started applying Pilates principles and exercises to her patient therapy within the clinical setting - both she and the clients were pleased with the successes of the Pilates method that was applied. Diane continued her training in Pilates in February 2008, and after two years and 500 hours of study and training, she received her Comprehensive Mat and Equipment Certification through Core Dynamics. She studied and trained in Santa Fe, New Mexico with world-renowned Pilates Instructor Michelle Larson. Diane believes that training with Michelle, who had trained directly under Pilates elder, Eve Gentry, was life-changing. Diane continued her Physical Therapy Assistant practice and her Pilates teaching at Studio B Pilates in Fairfax, Virginia for the last 12 years. She moved to Fernandina Beach in 2018 and has continue to refresh and update her knowledge and skills with workshops and continuing education courses in Pilates. 

Kates Robinson

Kates Robinson is a native of Fernandina Beach and after living in Nashville, New York and LA decided to settle back in beautiful Florida. Kates started practicing Pilates in 2013 and was immediately hooked. She realized she had finally found a workout that felt more like a lifestyle than just another fitness routine. Kates believes the mind-body connection that is obtained from the practice truly benefits every aspect of our lives and makes us stronger not only physically but mentally as well. She has received her Reformer 1 certification through the nationally recognized Balanced Body and is continuing her education. Kates has over 200 hours as a Reformer Instructor and continues to take classes herself and grow in the practice. She is excited to share her love and passion for Pilates and help others realize how transformative Pilates can be!

Janet Burns-Price

Janet is a Certified Pilates Instructor through Body Awareness in Atlanta GA. For over three decades, Janet has been a certified fitness specialist focusing her talents on physical strength, endurance, and weight loss through programs such as aerobics, aqua aerobics, aqua resistance, and weight training. As a licensed Occupational Therapy Assistant, Janet’s knowledge and experience allows for specialized cardio, muscular, and nutritional advice. She also specializes in the Post Rehab Patient Population and the use of E.T.P.S.

Amanda Tribou

Hi, my name is Amanda Tribou. I am a native of Fernandina Beach, Fl. I have the pleasure of enjoying our quaint and charming island area with my husband, three children and four dogs. I attended FSCJ and Minneapolis Technical College earning a degree in Aviation Administration. Balancing a stressful career as an Air Traffic Controller and a Mom made me realize I needed to take control of my wellbeing. Pilates helped me become more mindful of my mind and body, all the while challenging me physically and mentally. A love for Pilates and helping others lead me to become a Certified Pilates Instructor. I attended the nationally recognized Balance Body Institute in 2013. I have more than 400 hours of mixed Pilates classes. I continue to attend classes, learn and grow in my Pilate’s practice for myself and my clients. I strive to provide a unique mind & body journey for everyone. My goal is to help those I teach feel good while doing Pilates.
